Betafence results 2007: On the way to 500 mio euro turnover…

In line with its business strategy, Betafence realized a substantial growth in 2007,
achieving 490 million euro turnover. This represents a growth of more than 10% vs 2006.

At the same time, record investments were realized in our plants throughout the world, 18 million euro in total were invested in 2007.

The main investment -more than 2.5 million euro- has been implemented in the Belgian factory to improve Betafence’s position in the market of panel fencing. In Germany and Italy, investments were done to develop Betafence’s position in the gates market. In Poland also a new production hall has been set up to support the important growth in Eastern and Central Europe.

A major step in our expansion in the Asian market has been set with the official opening in May 2007 of the Betafence plant in China (Tianjin), this in presence of HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium.

The expansion plan also resulted in the finalization of 2 Joint Ventures: the first one was realised with Densa, a renowned Turkish fence producer, which resulted in the establishment of Betafence Turkey. This company will actively develop the Betafence activities in Turkey and neighbouring countries.
A second Joint Venture was set up in Spain, where an agreement was signed to start installation activities in order to be closer to the important market of public works.

2008 also promises to be a very challenging year with a turnover target exceeding 500 mio euro. The year started with the launch of a revolutionary new gate for the residential market: MODIVIA. The first reactions from the market are very enthusiastic.

Even if the general trend in the economy seems to slow down, Betafence remains very confident in the future evolution of the business with a projected increased demand mainly in the perimeter protection market and the emerging markets. The order bookings of the 2 first months confirm this impression.
