5 AIRPORTS - PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Protecting airports.

As part of the Civil Aviation Development Investment Programme (CADIP), funded by the Asian Development Bank, Papua New Guinea's National Airports Corporation received funds to upgrade five airports. This included increasing the security levels of their perimeter fences which were badly corroded and damaged.

Betafence was awarded the project management of the manufacture, sourcing, quality control, and security fence installations subcontracted to local installers. The five airports - Wewak, Gurney, Kavieng, Hoskins, and Goroka - were completed over a period of 2 years. In total 5km of Securifor and 22km of palisade were installed.  Betafence ensured health and safety on construction sites were adhered to and co-ordinated community involvement, training, and consultation.
